Unfortunately, as non-surgical aesthetic procedures has become more mainstream, an exponential amount of unqualified people/practitioners have jumped on the bandwagon. Many of these are just there for the money and not the patient. This creates huge problems as some of these "practitioners" have no medical knowledge of anatomy, physiology or management of potential (but rare) complications. That scares me! Why take the necessary risk! This is your face at the end of the day.

We have seen an increasing amount of clients that have came to us seeking lip correction over the last few years. These clients have had the disastrous experience of having accidentality putting their trust in someone who should not be providing filler treatments to the public. We have came across problems caused by: poor injection technique, wrong product selection, and unfortunately infection. All of these are potential complications with all filler treatments, however, in the cases we have seen, this had obviously been causes by inexperience, incompetence and even negligence.

Luckily, the marvellous properties of hyaluronic acid lip filler is that it can be reversed and therefore fixed!

One of our beautiful clients that dveloped more volume over definition, which we reversed and now looks amazing

We have mastered the use of hyaluronidase (an amazing enzyme that breaks down the filler in-situ), allowing us to start again with a blank canvas.

We firstly inject the enzyme into the lips to destroy all (or most of) previous injected HA filler, and give it time to work. We the see the patient in 1-2 weeks to reassess the lips. At this point we can 1) further dissolve more of the previous filler or 2) choose to remodel the lips to a naturally beautiful and desired shape by carefully and precise placed HA filler injections.

Ultimately, the beauty of lip filler is that it is reversible! Fashions change over time. A few years go everyone wanted lip volume (the bigger the better), now they want lip definition (with moderate volume). Injection technique has progressed and so has the technology and properties of the lip and facial filler (hyaluronic acid) used. This article has been written, not to scare you, but to encourage you not to worry. Everything can be fixed. However, prevention is better than cure, so choose your practitioner wisely and question everything. You are in control.

Whatever you want to call it. It works!

First, lets talk about what it is. There seems to be confusion created for our clients.

A Vampire Facelift is basically a very clever way of using a patients own blood to create natural skin rejuvenation. We take the blood and separate thee platelets and plasma. These contain all the goodies - namely tissue growth factors which stimulate your bodies skin cells to grow into more healthy and younger looking skin.

No vampires involved - just a clever way to turn back time of ageing.

Our amazing client. After above, before image below.

What do we do?

There's a lot of science to it. But lets not bore you. Leave the boring part to us.

We first prepare the blood after taking a a small blood sample from the arm (painless of course). I like to the mark the entire face with 1.5cm squares for guidance, marking extra stubborn areas where the skin could use more rejuvenation. We can even focus on areas where we have used anti-wrinkle injections to enhance the result. They work great together, especially in stubborn areas!

Next we use a super fine needle to inject into the marked facial areas. This leaves these little raised marks for usually up to a couple of hours (at most a day). I have been taught a special injection technique which takes longer and is much more difficult but is proven to be far superior. I don't just do this micro needling face mask where 90% of the growth factors are merely lost. This is the TRUE "Vampire Facelift", not "Vampire Facial".

Trust me, our results speak for themselves. If you have any questions. I'm more than happy to help.

There are too many "aesthetic practitioners" out there providing lip filler treatments to clients without a full understanding of the natural anatomy of the lips. It's important to recognise these in order to give that truly natural and beautiful lip augmentation. By understanding these anatomical landmarks we can precisely place HA filler in places that truly compliment lip shape and volume. Long gone the days of inject as much filler as possible and massage it to shape. Somehow, there are still people doing this, giving the client an unsatisfactory result. Please choose your practitioner wisely and ask them their injection techniques and reasons at consultation. A competent practitioner will happy spend time to sit with you and explain all these details to make you at ease. If they can't or wont, shop around!

Volume and/or Lining

Simply put, we all love a pair of voluminous lips. They create that image of youth and beauty. But it is important that this volume is created in the most natural way. There are many techniques and ways of doing this and I am sure that most aesthetic doctors will disagree on what is best. However, the newest technique, which we always use, uses micro amounts of injected HA filler in the most important anatomical lip landmarks. This always includes the Vermillion border, sometimes the apex of the cupid bow (below the philtrum ridges) and even the philtrum ridges themselves

I have my own style of lip augmentation which I have been continuously developing and improving for the past 4 years. Feel free to look at my personal work on our Instagram www.instagram.com/primedical_aesthetics .

Ultimately, you can decide the look you want and ask to look at the doctors previous work to see if that's the look you like.
